FSANL held its Annual Health and Safety Conference on Sept 27, 2023 at the Corner Brook Civic Center. It was a very informative day with presentations by:

 

WorkplaceNL, David Lacey – CRSP Manager, Prevention Services spoke about the forestry and provincial statistics.

Western Health, Charlene Payne (Reginal Mental Health & Addictions Coordinator) and David Jones (Youth Early Intervention and Outreach Worker) – discussed mental health for the forest industry.

Forestry Safety Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, Jim Stoyles and Darrin Dunphy – Health and Safety Trainers discussed ATV/UTV safety.

Newfoundland and Labrador Forest Industry Association, Bill Dawson – Executive Director spoke about what’s new with the NLFIA.

Forestry Safety Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, Dion Newman – Executive Director expressed his appreciation of continued support. He also talked about FSANL’s achievements and goals.

Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture, Jeff Motty – Supervisor of Forest Insect, Disease and Fire Control spoke about fire smarting your home or cottage.

FSANL’s Health and Safety Conference once again was a success due to all who participated and assisted.

FSANL presented various appreciation awards to the following companies and people:

College of the North Atlantic for their dedication and support of FSANL.

Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Club on their dedication and support of FSANL. 

Lindy Vincent for his years of dedication and support as a FSANL Board Member. 

Bill Hynd for his years of dedication and support as a FSANL Board Member. 

The 2022 Safety Champion award was presented to Noble Resources Inc. for their continued effort in establishing and maintaining a strong and positive safety culture in their workplace. 

A big thank you goes out to this years presenters who attended in person and virtually. Also, FSANL would like to say thank you to those who continue to help and support the association to make this conference a success.
