FSANL held its Annual Health and Safety Conference on Sept 20, 2022 at the Corner Brook Civic Center. It was a very informative day with presentations by;

 

WorkplaceNL – David Lacey, CRSP Manager, Prevention Services reviewed provincial injury statistics for the forestry industry. 

WorkplaceNL – DeAnn Vincent, Health and Safety Advisor reviewed various ergonomics for equipment operators and truck drivers.

NL Power – Perry Pollard, Environment, Health and Safety Advisor and Trevor Philpott, Manager of Transportation. They talked about electrical hazards on and off the job.

Newfoundland and Labrador Forest Industry Association – Bill Dawson, Executive Director reviewed NL forestry economic statistic, talked renewable energy and what NLFIA is working towards.

Forestry Safety Association of Newfoundland and Labrador – Dion Newman, Executive Director expressed his appreciation of continued support. He also talked about FSANL’s achievements and goals. 

Advantage Fleet Services – Grant Aune, President and CEO talked about the hazards and dangers of everyday driving.

Retired RNC Constable – Dean Peckford talked about mental health workplace injuries and shared his personal story.

FSANL’s Health and Safety Conference once again was a success due to all who participated and assisted.

FSANL awarded it’s annual appreciation award to HiTech Communications Ltd. for their continued support. FSANL would also like to say a big thank you to Dave Collins, Manager of HiTech Communications for his generosity in donating a ZOLEO Satellite Communicator for a door prize.

The 2020 Safety Champion award was presented to Trademark Lumber Company for their continued effort in establishing and maintaining a strong and positive safety culture in their workplace. 

A big thank you goes out to this years presenters who attended in person and virtually. Also, FSANL would like to say thank you to those who continue to help and support the association to make this conference a success.

FSANL would like to say thank you to Brandon Hopkins at Highpoint Audio for the exceptional AV services and quality of sound. Thank you to Jennifer’s and their staff for the timely presentation of food that provided everyone with an amazing lunch and nutrition breaks.
